Chet Krause founded the Iola-based publishing company Krause Publications in 1952 working out of his parent’s home in Iola. In 1964, after 12 years of growth, the company was organized as a corporate business and built its first office building in 1957 at the corner of Water Street and North Washington Street (now Chet Krause Drive).
The Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis (SSJ-TOSF) were one of seven recipients of the Congressman Clement Zablocki Civic Award in November. Seven sisters were on hand Nov. 6 at the Polish Center of Wisconsin in Franklin for the awards luncheon.

The fourth annual Armed Forces Challenge Salvation Army bell ringing fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at various locations in the area. The Armed Forces Challenge allows representatives of all five military branches to ring bells at Salvation Army posts throughout the Stevens Point area.
Sensei Dave Wanta, who trained at the Olympic Training Center, was recently the guest coach for the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and the Stevens Point Judo Club Tuesday, Oct. 25. He instructed 30 judo students on the mat.
