  • Krause Publications honored by Iola Historical Society with marker

    Chet Krause founded the Iola-based publishing company Krause Publications in 1952 working out of his parent’s home in Iola. In 1964, after 12 years of growth, the company was organized as a corporate business and built its first office building in 1957 at the corner of Water Street and North Washington Street (now Chet Krause Drive).

  • Discover magic at the Enchanted Forest

    If you can’t see the forest through the trees, then just enjoy the trees. The 22nd annual Enchanted Forest will open at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at the Rosholt Fair Park Community Building, 186 Forest St., Rosholt, and will be open from 5 to 8 p.m. every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Dec. 23. Santa’s visits with the little ones are 6 to 8 p.m. every Saturday.

  • Former secretary of defense Laird dies at 94

    Melvin Laird, Marshfield native, former District 7 congressional representative and secretary of defense under Richard Nixon, died Wednesday, Nov. 16, at age 94 due to complications from congestive heart failure

  • Military branch bell-ringing challenge will be held Dec. 3

    The fourth annual Armed Forces Challenge Salvation Army bell ringing fundraiser will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at various locations in the area. The Armed Forces Challenge allows representatives of all five military branches to ring bells at Salvation Army posts throughout the Stevens Point area.

  • City holds first public meeting for possible Stanley Street changes

    Stevens Point officials held a public information meeting Wednesday, Oct. 26, to take input from residents about making possible changes to the lane striping on Stanley Street from the Interstate 39 Interchange to the university campus.
